Introductory Analytical Chemistry Poster – Fall 2022
Created a poster regarding a basic literature review of metal detoxification in sharks. Evaluated literature surrounding this area to form an understanding and create the poster. The poster was “Metal concentrations and metallothionein metal detoxification in blue sharks, Prionace glauca L. from the Western North Atlantic Ocean” publicly as part of my CHEM 2100 lecture.
Critical Thinking and Writing for Science and Technology Literature Review – Winter 2023
Analyzed the current literature regarding permafrost and its melting. Flowed from the origins of permafrost thawing to the impacts on rural communities. The review was titled “A Melting Planet: A review providing an overview of the current state of permafrost and its wide-ranging impacts on both society and the planet”. An oral presentation was also given using the review information.
NSERC USRA – Summer 2023
Worked under Dr. Eric Bottos to create microbial dispersal chambers to manipulate microbial community dispersal in soil samples. Evaluated the current understanding of microbial soil dynamics to develop incubation chambers to limit microbial dispersal in soil.
UREAP – Winter 2024
Continued my work under Dr. Eric Bottos to write a literature review regarding electroactive biofilms for my UREAP project. I also continued the interpretation and analysis of the sequencing data observed from the incubation chambers. The report contains a literature review from pages 4-6.
Honours Proposal – Fall 2024
Created an Honours Proposal containing an extensive literature review alongside various methods and procedures that were developed to assess the various metrics of the Honours project. The project analyzes the impact of an acute hypotonic load on endothelial function and baroreflex sensitivity following high sodium diet. The results from this work will be synthesized into a Thesis, defended, and ideally published in an academic journal.
